🔍 Before You Write — Quick Answers

These are the most common questions we receive. If your question is here, you'll get your answer faster:

The app installed but the hotkey doesn't work

Check that ScribAI is running (look for the icon in your system tray). Some antivirus programs block global hotkeys — try temporarily disabling your AV and re-testing. If another app uses the same hotkey combination, you can remap ScribAI in Settings.

Transcription is slow or inaccurate

In Local mode, speed and accuracy depend on the Whisper model you've selected and your PC's processor. The Tiny model is fastest but less accurate; the Small model is more accurate but needs more CPU. Try switching models in Settings. For best accuracy, use a USB headset rather than your laptop's built-in microphone.

I can't hear any audio feedback / mic indicator

Make sure your default recording device in Windows Sound Settings is set to the microphone you're using. ScribAI records from your Windows default audio input device.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

You can cancel anytime from your account dashboard. There are no cancellation fees and your access continues until the end of your billing period. If you have trouble accessing your dashboard, email us at hello@scribai.app and we'll cancel it for you immediately.

ScribAI isn't pasting text into my application

ScribAI uses the Windows clipboard to paste text. A small number of applications restrict clipboard input (some virtual machine software, kiosk applications, and legacy enterprise apps). Try using the app in Notepad first to confirm ScribAI is working, then test your specific app.

Does ScribAI work in languages other than English?

Yes. Whisper supports dozens of languages including Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, and many more. In Cloud mode via the OpenAI API, all Whisper-supported languages are available. Language detection is automatic — just speak in your preferred language.

I was charged but I'm not on Pro

Email us immediately at hello@scribai.app with your transaction details. We'll investigate and issue a refund if needed. We take billing issues seriously and resolve them the same day wherever possible.

📌 What to Include in Your Email

To help us resolve your issue as fast as possible, please include:

• Your Windows version — Windows 10 or 11, and whether it's 64-bit (Settings → System → About)
• ScribAI version — visible in the Settings panel inside the app
• What mode you're using — Local Whisper or Cloud (OpenAI API)
• What happened — a short description of the issue and what you expected to happen
• Steps to reproduce — if it's a bug, what do we need to do to see it?

The more detail you include, the faster we can help.

We genuinely want to hear from you. ScribAI's roadmap is largely shaped by user feedback — features like the customisable hotkey, the AI Compose mode, and the multi-model Whisper selector all came from user requests.
